Printed Lake Injector

This project occurred around 2013 when 3D printing was just breaking into the consumer market. Around that time me and a couple of friends were very interested to see what all we could 3D printed and used as a part of our motorcycle hobby. The idea came up to print some early mechanical fuel injectors more specifically the Lake Injector.

So over the course of a weekend with the help of my calipers and beer I was able to model and 3D print the metal components of the injector. The goal was always to user the printed models for making molds that could be used to cast aluminum parts but the temptation to test the plastic pieces on an actual bike was too great. So that is what we did, as you can see in the last photograph we were able to actually run a bike with a plastic replacement.
